about
Drawing on 40 years of experience, I provide corporate clients comprehensive legal and business counsel for their local, national and international operations. My approach is uniquely informed by my background: I’ve navigated the complexities of Big Law firms (in both the UK and US), led legal departments as General Counsel for public and private franchise corporations, and even built and managed my own business. This blend of perspectives enables me to deliver pragmatic, commercially-driven solutions that balance risk and reward.
My core expertise lies in franchise law, where I guide clients through structuring programs, drafting essential agreements and disclosure documents, managing FDD registrations and renewals, and compliance with all State and Federal franchise laws. I also provide practical support for ongoing franchise sales, relationship management, and strategic expansion initiatives.
I’m a strategic thinker, quickly grasping new business ideas and economic drivers to provide practical compliance solutions across diverse distribution channels. I help clients capitalize on commercial opportunities while safeguarding their assets and core values.
Examples of Industries Served: Online Trading & Financial Education, eCommerce, Ad Agencies, Pharmaceutical & Medical Products, Expense Reduction, Computer Training, Health & Weight Management, Children’s Gyms, Janitorial, Mobile Pet Grooming, QSRs, Vending Machine Routes, Insurance, Real Estate Services, Retail Stores (FMCGs), Relocation, HR Back Office, Computer “Geek” Services.
Originally from the south coast of England, I began my legal career as a solicitor in London, immersed in the hectic M&A and venture capital world of the late 80s. After moving to California and re-qualifying as a US attorney, I spent three decades in big Law and in-house franchise roles. Seeking a new chapter, I embraced life in New York, experiencing the city’s resilience through the pandemic, and am now in Connecticut – quieter, but still a quick train journey to the theater, friends, and parks I love.
